Are you passionate about community impact civic engagement and empowering young people to lead with purpose South Valley Academy is seeking a dynamic Service Learning Teacher to join our team and help students become active changemakers in their communities.
Position Overview:
The Service Learning Teacher will design and lead a curriculum that blends academic learning with handson community involvement. This role is rooted in social justice and critical reflection aiming to help students develop strong agency realworld skills and a deep understanding of the issues affecting their communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a service learning curriculum aligned with academic and community goals.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate service learning across disciplines.
- Cultivate and manage partnerships with local organizations to support studentled service projects.
- Organize student placements site visits and communitybased research projects.
- Facilitate classroom discussions and structured reflection to deepen understanding of civic responsibility equity and social justice.
- Support students in designing and implementing projects that address realworld challenges.
- Maintain documentation of service hours partner contributions and student impact.
- Promote service learning through schoolwide events and community presentations.
- Evaluate program effectiveness for continuous improvement and reporting
Ideal Candidate Qualities:
- A strong grounding in social justice antiracist and antioppression frameworks.
- Experience in community engagement projectbased learning or youth development.
- Commitment to helping students understand and dismantle systems of oppression.
- Ability to collaborate with students staff families and local partners.
