The 3rd Grade Teacher will provide instructional and educational experiences for approximately 2025 students who range in age from eight to ten. Students may possess limitations including: developmental delays health impairments behavior disorders learning disabilities and/or multiple handicapping conditions.

The successful candidate shall:
- Cooperate with grade level team to develop curriculum and assessment strategies to meet building and District goals and objectives.
- Provide appropriate assessment of developmental and academic skills in the ThirdGrade setting.
- Participate in Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings.
- Implement appropriate programs for students in conjunction with the Guidance Team members (GT).
- Deliver on goals and objectives which facilitate and measure student growth.
- Maintain proper records and facilitate the necessary paperwork and forms as required by law and Columbia School District policy.
- Assume responsibility for productive utilization of a classroom paraeducator if provided.
- Collaborate successfully with a Special Education Teacher in an inclusive setting.
- Provide effective opportunities for peer interaction with students of various abilities as appropriate.
- Be flexible to the demands of the position.
- Effectively manage a classroom budget to support the educational mission of the school.
- Work with students in an enthusiastic supportive and consistent manner.
- Adhere to and maintain confidentiality in accordance with the law and Columbia School District policy.
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with school staff parents students and community organizations.
- Meet the physical needs of young students which may include butis not limited to: assisting with medical devices.
- Be willing to participate in extracurricular assignments and activities.
Qualifications:
- Current Washington Education Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
- Successful teaching experience documented with elementary aged children.
- Demonstrated success in managing and modifying disruptive student behaviors executive functioning deficits and social/personal/responsibility behaviors
- Knowledge and/or experience with: developmentally appropriate practices standardized and informal assessments best practices and strategies to use with elementary aged students.
- Experience with computers Chromebooks and Google
- Physical stamina as required to work effectively with elementary aged students.
- Excellent writing/communication capability in Standard English.
- Experience with computers Nuline Board preferred not required.
- Experience and knowledge of early childhood and developmentally appropriate practices for young students.
- Successful experience working with children of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds.
- Participate in team teaching situations.
- Evidence of the ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.
- Excellent evaluations and references.
- Maintain a positive productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
- Demonstrated leadership in professional activities related to education.
- Punctual and consistent attendance
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with other educators and parents.
- Ability and enthusiasm to fulfill the job description.
