Job Description

What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a resident engineer youll be responsible for leading projects through the construction phases providing overall field contract administration and coordination for programs or projects of a diverse and complex nature. Youll supervise assigned staff to ensure the contractors activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. Youll act as the primary onsite liaison between the client company personnel and contractors to resolve project issues. The construction manager reports to the area manager.

Salary Range: $150000 to $180000

What Youll Do:

  1. Oversee the review of installation Submittals and RFIs (technical input will come from the Design Support team).
  2. Track site specific work plans to make sure that the Contractor is cleared to work on the railroad.
  3. Lead a team including inspectors and OEs.
  4. Interface with Change team for change orders including making determinations on merit and tracking extra work at force account.
  5. Interface with Scheduler on monthly updates. Verify quantities for payment on a monthly basis.
  6. Lead meetings with Contractor and/or internal stakeholders.
  7. Report to client Group Manager. Provide updates on a monthly basis or as needed for stakeholders.
  8. Shift is day time 3 days a week in person at Oakland Office. However some night work and site visits are required. Available to travel throughout Bay Area as needed.
  9. Confirm that site work is performed safely in compliance with accepted plans/Submittals.

What Youll Need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Design build experience important.
  • Minimum ten years of construction management experience.
  • Rail experience required. BART experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer License (CA) preferred but not mandatory
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a good driving record.
  • This field job primarily operates in outdoor work environments that may include exposure to inclement weather heat humidity noise hazard atmospheric conditions and bodies of water depending on project requirements.
  • While performing the duties of this job physical demands of the employee may include frequent talking hearing standing moving walking stooping kneeling crouching crawling reaching handling grasping feeling balancing coordination and occasional sitting or operating a company vehicle. This job may require lifting carrying pushing and pulling up to 35 lbs.
