Apprentice Trading Standards Officer (Tobacco and Vape) 4 Years.

About the role:

This post is fully funded by the Department of Health and Social Care for a period of 4 years within the Trading Standards Service.

The successful candidate will focus on tackling illegal and underage sales as well as supporting businesses to achieve compliance across a vast range of tobacco and vapes regulations designed to protect consumers and in particular children while at the same time working to gain a L6 Trading Standards Apprenticeship (equivalent educational level: Batchelors Degree) across all areas of Trading Standards activity.

This is an opportunity for you to learn and develop under established trading standards professionals and embark on a thrilling career path.

About the candidate:

We would like to hear from you if you think this role is for you and have the following:

  • Five GCSE passes including English and Maths (Grade C/4 and above)
  • Minimum of two A levels or equivalent qualification
  • Commitment to maintain continuous professional & personal development (CPPD)
  • Proven ability and willingness to study
  • Effective use of IT applications such as Microsoft office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team

Desirable:

  • A keen interest or experience of working in an enforcement role
  • An interest or experience in investigation of criminal offences
  • Awareness of the UK Legal System
  • A keen interest or experience in investigation of criminal offences and Court appearances Ability to prepare written reports.
  • Ability to understand interpret and explain technical detail.
  • Ability to problem solve
