Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Carmarthenshire to assist with the appointment of a Grounds Operative on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 12.84 16.61 per Hour
Summary:
This is a great opportunity to join the Environment Department of Carmarthenshire County Council supporting the maintenance of public parks schools playgrounds and other landscaped areas. The Grounds Operative will deliver highquality grounds maintenance services across the local area using machinery and craft skills in line with health and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out general grounds maintenance: grass cutting hedge trimming and sports field upkeep.
- Set out and mark sports areas; maintain natural artificial and synthetic pitches.
- Clean public facilities including changing rooms toilets and parks.
- Apply pesticides in accordance with legislation and manufacturer guidelines.
- Operate handheld and powered tools as well as tractors and mounted equipment.
- Supervise trainees and allocated staff as needed.
- Conduct visual inspections of playground equipment and record findings.
Essentials:
- Experience in groundskeeping or gardening roles.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Competent in allocating tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Full driving licence and ability to tow trailers.
- Practical knowledge of Health & Safety legislation COSHH regulations and safe use of light machinery.
