Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and communitybased services.

The Department

Alfred Health provides acute clinical care to patients on the acute wards and the Allied Health team includes both Allied Health Practitioners and Allied Health Assistants. Alfred Healths Allied Health comprises a number of Allied Health disciplines that provide patientcentred care across all clinical programs that operate at Alfred Health. The Allied Health team includes clinicians from Occupational Therapy Physiotherapy Orthotics and Prosthetics Speech Pathology Social Work Nutrition and Psychology (including Neuropsychology) and are supported by Allied Health Assistants. The Allied Health team works closely with the Nursing and Medical teams to provide a comprehensive and timely service to both inpatients and outpatients.

The Position Summary

The Allied Health Assistant works closely with the multidisciplinary allied health team to provide a flexible and responsive service that works to meet each patients identified therapeutic and discharge position is responsible for the implementation of individual interventions and/or therapy programs as delegated by the treating therapists. The AHA will work as part of the multidisciplinary team OR individual disciplines to provide services that may include sourcing practical advice and providing support to patients and families to complete applications for services and benefits. The AHA will also be responsible for administrative and clinical support functions which assist with patient management and contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the is a condition of employment that individuals may be required to work across all Alfred Health sites and services including weekend and Public Holiday shifts as rostered. While these roles will be mostly based at the Alfred cover at our Sandringham and Caulfield sites may be needed.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Completion of Certificate IV (Allied Health Assistance) from a registered training organisation OR
  • Recognised equivalent qualification (as determined by the line manager)OR
  • Higher qualification in a relevant allied health discipline at Diploma or Associate Diploma levelOR
  • Certificate level qualification in a relevant healthrelated field OR
  • Overseastrained Allied Health practitioner with a qualification at Diploma level or higher OR
  • Allied Health undergraduate student (in a relevant health science discipline) having successfully completed at least 1 year
