The organisation
HousingFirst (HF) is an awardwinning independent notforprofit organisation providing social and affordable community housing for people on low to moderate incomes. The organisation was established in 1986 and achieved registration as a Housing Association in 2005 under the Housing Act 1983 (Victoria). We draw on over 30 years of financial design construction and project management experience to create some of Melbournes most attractive and liveable developments.
HF owns and manages a property portfolio of 2400 homes across many municipalities in the Melbourne metropolitan area. As a result we provide homes to approximately 3000 people each night. We manage an asset base valued at over $700 million operating out of four locations at St Kilda Ashwood Preston and Parkville.
Our services are particularly targeted to people who are disadvantaged experiencing housing stress or at risk of homelessness
The Position
Reporting directly to the CEO the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team driving operational excellence in the delivery of our housing services and playing a pivotal role in realising HousingFirsts strategic vision
Key responsibilities include:
Tenancy Management: Service Delivery
Lead the core operations of community housing service delivery comprising tenancy management maintenance community development and the Customer Service Hub.
Champion resident engagement and satisfaction by enhancing responsive maintenance standardising operational practices and ensuring consistent application of the Residential Tenancies Act (1997).
Performance & Quality Improvement
Responsible for meeting key performance measures (KPMs) as per Housing Regulatory Standards internal KPIs and representing the organisation to regulators government agencies peak bodies and service delivery partners.
Partnerships & Business Growth
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders within and beyond the community housing sector
Partner with Executive Team to explore funding models identify opportunities and pursue fundraising and philanthropic activities to expand HousingFirsts portfolio
The successful candidate will have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications (such as Real Estate qualifications Business Administration or similar) and / or experience in a similar role
Extensive experience in housing management and maintenance community development organisational strategy implementation and business plans
Proven ability to develop and implement qualitative infrastructure that facilitates a culture of continuous improvement
People leadership experience and a capable coach
