Job Description

Paraprofessional Technology and Library

Position is for theschool year at Osage Trail Middle School. Position is 7.5 hours per day/37.5 hours a week. Position begins at August 14 2025 and goes through students calendar end of May (179 days total). Position comes with district insurance options and retirement contributions. Technology and Library para supports all building technology and librarian needs throughout the day.

The job of Paraprofessional Technology and Library is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for assisting with building technology and school librarian; troubleshooting building technology issues: performing clerical functions related to collection processing circulation maintenance and inventory of library materials and/or textbooks; and maintaining the library collections at school sites; assisting students and staff with library resources.

Substitute teaching certification required upon hire.

Essential Functions

  • Assists teachers students and administrators for the purpose of identifying resource materials for use in classroom and/or class assignments.
  • Coordinates with technology department staff for the purpose of ensuring computer hardware and software malfunctions are resolved.
  • Gathers supplies and materials for the purpose of ensuring availability as needed for displays and bulletin boards.
  • Monitors student activities for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning.
  • Maintains computer hardware and software applications for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional materials.
  • Maintains equipment lab areas (e.g. cleaning counter tops replacing ink cartridges etc.) for the purpose of ensuring equipment and lab areas are in safe proper working condition.
  • Responds to technology work orders for the purpose of solving lowlevel technology issues or elevating the concern to district technology support.
  • Performs general clerical functions (e.g. copying faxing sorting mail laminating filing data entry resetting passwords creating and processing photo IDs collecting and processing fines etc.) for the purpose of supporting the library and technology operations.
  • Assists students in completing projects and assignments for the purpose of teaching using the District Standards.
  • Performs circulation activities for the purpose of controlling the use location and availability of items in the collection.
  • Processes library books periodicals software and related media materials for the purpose of providing students and staff with required materials.
  • Repairs books and materials for the purpose of ensuring the availability of books and library materials.
  • Reports health and safety issues to assigned administrator and appropriate agencies for the purpose of maintaining students personal safety a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Responds to inquiries (e.g. students parents staff teachers etc.) for the purpose of providing assistance and/or direction in the area of computer technology classes with the assistance of the computer instructor.
  • Troubleshoots computer malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer operations.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing

other persons within a small work unit; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to effect the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional

lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling significant stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine

finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting 40% walking and 40% standing. The job is performed in a

generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
