Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Water / Wastewater Consultant to join our team in Texas. As a Principal Water/ Wastewater Consultant you will join the Design and Engineering team as a seller/ technical position will be key to our growth in the Gulf Coast engaging with clients in a meaningful way to help grow our teams revenue and enable the team to continue to grow. This individual will connect with clients learn their needs and assess how Arcadis can support them help to create opportunities with clients and will lead and be involved in the preparation of proposals. This selling aspect will be 50% of the role. In addition this person will be undertaking conceptual and detailed process design for industrial water treatment and sustainability projects in a variety of industries. This doer aspect represents the other 50% of this role.

In this role you will be a key member of Arcadis national practice and will lead and direct the development of industrial water/wastewater projects across multiple sectors and for numerous Arcadis clients. Industrial Water is one of the fastest growing global business sectors and at Arcadis we are poised for significant growth through the delivery of large complicated projects across a diverse sector of clients and geographies. In this role you will be engaged in the Client Management / Development process along with serving as a technical expert during the execution of projects. This is a client facing role with an expectation to collaborate with various Arcadis locations to support projects and client development with an emphasis on the Gulf Coast.

Role accountabilities:

  • Support Arcadis industrial water growth particularly in the Gulf Coast
  • Lead business development activities to increase project wins and develop long lasting client relationships. Routine tasks include:
    • Reaching out to clients (that you have been introduced to by others in Arcadis) on a regular basis to stay connected and assess if there are any opportunities to assist them with key needs
    • Leading pursuits and development of proposals
    • Client meetings for business development
    • Work directly with clients to determine needs and provide solutions
    • Preparation of abstracts and technical papers.
  • Support the development of the Industrial Water process team across a variety of market sectors.
  • Lead projects and clients in the planning design and construction of Water / Wastewater treatment plants and wastewater recycle plants for industrial clients.
  • Coordinating multidisciplined engineering teams.
  • Lead or serve as Subject Matter Expert for complex engineering designs for industrial water projects while collaborating with other design disciplines. Routine tasks include:
    • Design basis documents (you will provide direction/review)
    • Engineering calculations including mass and energy balances (you will provide direction/review)
    • Review of engineering drawings (P&IDs and Layout)
    • Specifications for treatment equipment instrumentation and controls
    • Engineering reports and feasibility studies (you will provide direction/review)
    • Quality reviews
  • Manage technical coordination and leadership roles on larger or complex projects or projects with higher associated risk.
    • Lead knowledge transfer and development of staff within your area of expertise.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering Civil Engineering Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field of study preferred
  • 15 years of industrial water/wastewater treatment experience preferred
  • Held prior roles across engineering project management sustainability and technology
  • Possess the skills needed to develop into client engagement as a seller of industrial wastewater services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer License
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial clients
  • Prior consulting experience
  • Previous experience in a regional role and collaboration across regional teams
