Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Middle School Choir Accompanist provides piano accompaniment for choir classes rehearsals and performances at CVMS/MVMS. This position supports the vocal music program by helping students develop musical skills and confidence through guided practice and live performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  1. Proficient piano skills including sightreading and the ability to support young singers.
  2. Understanding of choral music appropriate for middle school levels.
  3. Ability to collaborate effectively with the choir director and students.
  4. Patience flexibility and excellent organizational skills.
  5. Ability to adapt to a variety of musical styles and rehearsal needs.

Experience:

Prior experience accompanying choirs or vocalists is preferred. Experience working with middle schoolaged students is a plus.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. College level coursework or degree in music preferred.

Certification Required: None

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Collaborate with the choir director to accompany rehearsals and student performances.
  2. Support the learning process by helping students develop rhythm pitch and musicality.
  3. Provide accompaniment at concerts assemblies and music festivals.
  4. Assist with sectional work or soloist preparation when requested.
  5. Attend all scheduled rehearsals and events on time and as agreed upon.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be dependable flexible and capable of working within a school setting.
  2. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional behavior with students and staff.
  3. Must pass a background check per district policy

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out accurate and clear written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized

situations.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers supervisor(s) staff students parents and community.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk and may

be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck

and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to

reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee continuously

uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25

pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods

of time.

Stipend: TBD according to 202526 Extra duty Stipend Schedule

($1706 $2193 GroupH of the 202425 Extra Duty Stipend Schedule)
