The Global Economy and Development program at Brookings aims to shape the policy debate on how to improve global economic cooperation and fight global poverty and sources of social stress. For over two decades the Center for Universal Education (CUE) has been at the forefront of global policy research focused on inclusive education and skills development. CUE works closely with networks of international partners to accelerate educational progress and systems change so that all learnersespecially the most marginalizedcan develop a breadth of skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. The center helps develop policies and actionable strategies related to global education for and in partnership with policymakers at all levels of government funders civil society and the private sector.
Position Location: This position is hybrid. Hybrid positions combine regular inperson presence at our Washington DC office with the option of two days of remote work each week.

CUE is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to support its work on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education and Student Engagement. The Senior Research Analyst supports CUEs Senior Fellow and Director and works closely with the project team working on addressing the role of student agency in an increasingly AIinfused world.
This position will be a oneyear termed appointment subject to extension if funding is available.
Research Design and Analysis (70%)
Participates in and coordinates the teams research design implementation visualization and writing processes.
Drafts high quality working papers briefs blogs publications and other easily accessible and public facing materials and presentations based on data and research.
Supports in drafting editing and proof reading of research reports policy briefs articles blogs short videos on the research and other published materials as well as unpublished documents.
Creates tables graphs and other data visualizations that clearly communicate research findings and helps contribute data to workshop presentations publications website and other public dissemination of findings.
Conducts literature reviews and policy analysis through document review and content analysis. Track and monitor current events policy analysis papers and government activities as they pertain to the research topic.
Conducts and coleads empirical quantitative and qualitative research using methods such as: survey analysis interviews and focus group discussions.
Conducts complex qualitative data analysis compiles and organizes datasets and provides independent contributions to research development and analysis for case studies reports and tools.
Monitors and summarizes current events debates policy analysis and research related to the questions and topics being investigated;
Coleads or supports preparation and presentation of research (may include travel). This includes preparing PowerPoints presentation hand outs agenda/plans for events etc.
Lead the strategic design of key events in support of the work including discussions workshops presentations and symposia and partner with internal and external stakeholders.
Creates and executes action plans related to the research workstream; addresses challenges in workflow as they arise including by adjusting timelines communicating upcoming deadlines and priorities to team and providing strategic planning on project.
Project Coordination and Outreach (30%)
Reviews and coordinates work with consultants and partner organizations as needed to advance project.
Participates in regular CUE meetings.
Supports on MEL tracking and preparation of grant implementation progress reports and tracking of impact of activities.
Maintains relevant project databases and research files.
Leads on amplifying visibility of the work through social media and coordinating communication plans in consultation with Communications team to support the content of projectspecific web pages and publications;
Other coordination and support duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree in education Sociology Data Science Educational Psychology International Relations/Development/Affairs or related social science field required. Masters degree strongly preferred. Minimum of two years of relevant research experience required (quantitative and qualitative research). Experience with fastpaced research researchpractitioner partnerships classroom experience and familyschool engagement work a plus.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Strong knowledge work experience and established interest in drivers of student learning pedagogical practice and technology in child development and education. Familiarity with topics at the intersection of AI and education helpful. Strong written research and oral communications skills required; high functionality in Microsoft Office software package; strong track record in organizing and managing complicated projects with multiple components; and a proven problemsolver and selfstarter. Must be able to present research work in a cogent style consistent with standards for Brookings and the field. Ability to meet rapid multiple deadlines in a fastpaced work environment. Professional demeanor high level of comfort working in a culturallydiverse environment and with highprofile individuals from academic policy corporate government and international circles. Ability to work well under pressure with discretion and mature judgment. Successful candidate should be creative flexible adaptable and open to engaging in iterative and coconstructed research with others. Excellent data collection analysis and synthesis and writing skills and ability to work indepedently and in teams in the research process.
Must have capacity to connect details and data and bring them to a larger conversation and help make data and research understandable to decisionmaker and policymaker audiences and responsive to their needs and contexts. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Works well under multiple deadlines in a fastpaced work environment. Has strong professional judgement and culturalcapacity in working with working with diverse groups of practitioners researchers and policy makers from multiple country contexts including those with highlevel roles.Applicants with foreign language expertise welcomed.
