Science Service Sustainability

The Environmental Health Manager II serves as a Project Manager in the Critical Area Permitting Section and conducts technical reviews of permit applications and service requests.This position is located in Bureau of Coastal Management in the Critical Area Permitting Section.



Job Duties:
  • Serves as a Critical Area Permitting Project Manager

  • Independently performs technical reviews of permit applications and service requests including professional drawings and analytical documents to ensure compliance with Critical Area Permitting Regulations and Coastal Tidelands and Wetlands Act

  • Reviews permit applications and service requests for consistency with the South Carolina Coastal Zone Management Program

  • Conducts field work associated with technical reviews and service requests

  • Provides professional guidance and assistance to local governments land developers consultants public officials and citizens

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Note: Degrees in a related technical field include but are not limited to Earth sciences chemistry biology physics soil science environmental science mathematics etc.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both an oral and written manner
  • Work effectively in a teamoriented environment and encourage positive working relationships with coworkers industry and government officials
  • Work independently in a field environment
  • Ability to prioritize and work with cooperative agencies across program areas
  • Work in all reasonable weather conditions and access nontraditional work environments
  • May require:
  • Daily travel throughout the state
  • Occasional overnight travel
  • Participation in BCM emergency preparedness and recovery related to natural or manmade disasters
