Job Description

Summary

WHO MAY APPLY: This position is open to the public and King County employees. If filled internally it will be as a special duty assignment.

DURATION: 912 months

The Support Services Division of the King County Sheriffs Office (KCSO) is currently accepting applications for a benefiteligible TermLimited Temporary (TLT) / Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Project/Program Manager III (PPMIII) in the Records Unit. This SDA/TLT will be supervising a talented team of Records Management Specialists who handle a highvolume and complex workload related to firearms licenses fingerprint services and CJIS. Records Management Specialists work with sensitive and confidential information and provide support services for the agency as whole.

Work Location:This position is primarily inperson with hybrid opportunities up to 2 days/week. The primary worksite is the King County Courthouse. This position is exempt and not overtime eligible with flexible schedule options (5/8 4/10 and 9/80).

Job Duties

  • Prioritize and identify daily workload supervise and support publicfacing operations. Assist in training of new employees technical assistance provide feedback celebrate accomplishments and maintain a healthy and productive work culture and environment
  • Conduct performance evaluations monitor work quality and quantity for direct reports. Establish performance metrics and coach/counsel and mentor based on those metrics. Discuss individual performance with employees and recommend training or development plans issue written reprimands and letters regarding disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Champion digitization efforts of Concealed Pistol License (CPL) application records and the implementation of new technology
  • Oversee introduction of change processes and provide to support and training to Records Unit and department members
  • Manage a publicfacing counter and coordinate appointment scheduling and staffing
  • Analyze processes and procedures for Lean efficiencies and streamlining opportunities
  • Stay abreast of new and updated legislation pertaining to firearms permits licenses and training requirements
  • Work collaboratively with a cosupervisor; assist in facilitating monthly team meetings and unit crosstraining initiatives

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Qualified candidates will have experience or aptitude in the following skills and job duties:
Demonstrated strong communications skills both verbal and written; communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures; individuals with language barriers
Demonstrated ability to work well independently as well as in a collaborative team environment;
Experience in project/program management;
Demonstrated ability to research review and analyze data and make recommendations for change or potential efficiencies;
Ability to adapt to workflow needs and change tasks abruptly when/if needed;
Ability to use MS Office skilled in gathering manipulating and using data utilizing a computer and other tools;
Exemplary attendance record;
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:
Two (2) or more years of experience in project/program or change management
Experience in public records management
Experience with Permitium
Experience leading a team and/or directing work
Intermediate level skill using Microsoft Office Suite
