Mental Health Clinician 1/2
What You Will Be Doing:
The Mental Health Clinician will provide therapeutic services including individual sessions groups milieu management and crisis intervention to patients at API. This position may also provide these services on an outpatient basis to forensic patients. This position is housed within the Psychology department and is flexibly staffed allowing for supervision toward licensure.

This position is located at 3700 Piper Street in the UMED district of east Anchorage which offers several maintained walking trails parks and nearby lakes. This area is filled with several restaurants shopping stores and has easy access to public transportation.
Requires flexible working hours at times may require weekend coverage.Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a candidate with the following competencies:
We are seeking a skilled clinician who can deliver services to a population of acute complex psychiatric patients housed in a hospital setting. Comfort with and enthusiasm for this population is desired. Experience interfacing with individuals with cognitive limitations and/or severe and persistent mental illnesses is desired. Ability to engage cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team collaborative skills knowledge of psychiatric disorders and a calm demeanor are desired attributes for this position.
Decision Making: Makes sound wellinformed and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.
Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively considering the audience and nature of the information (for example technical sensitive controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.
Psychology: Knowledge of the concepts principles and theories of human behavior and performance in various contexts mental processes or the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in counseling psychology social work child guidance vocational rehabilitation or a closely related field.
Masters degree from an accredited college in counseling psychology social work child guidance vocational rehabilitation or a closely related field.
AND
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities in
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Professional experience performing psychotherapeutic casework.
Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.
Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.
