Job Summary

The Regional Dental Lead (RDL) is a key member of the dental care team. The Regional Dental Lead (RDL) provides all functions of a dental assistant according to the requirements set forth by the Dental Practice Act of California Allowable Duties. Additionally The Regional Dental Lead (RDL) performs all functions including but not limited to the items listed below. The Regional Lead (RDL) supports the dental department by providing assistant coverage maintaining the clinics auditready gathering data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Quality Metric reporting.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of excellent customer service by displaying DAP Health Standards of Customer Service both internally and externally
  • Show sensitivity to differences in culture; demonstrates a positive and supportive manner in which patients/families/colleagues perceive interactions as positive and supportive
  • Understand access and demonstrate an understanding of privacy and confidentiality
  • Adhere to security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all DAP Health Dental staff and all other departments helping ensure the continuity of care to all patients
  • Work efficiently and accurately in a fastpaced environment with multiple priorities
  • Consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the dental clinic and complies with DAP Healths policies and procedures
  • Ensure patient safety
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures
  • Check equipment to insure proper functioning and schedules repairs as appropriate
  • Lead by example
  • Act as backup to all dental assistants and assists with the clinic flow.
  • Dedicate administrative/nonclinic hours every week to fulfill responsibilities
  • Monitor schedule alerts management of staffing needs
  • Monitor team punctuality and attendance alerts management to issues
  • Coordinate and attend huddles
  • Draft meeting agendas
  • Upload minutes
  • Report to management
  • Assist management in incident reporting
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining open and supportive work environment
  • Promote a team environment
  • Mentor new RDAs
  • Instruct trainees in the importance of accuracy neatness efficiency resourcefulness and good work habits
  • Ensure placement of pharmacy orders
  • Ensure proper disposal of expired medication
  • Coordinate assist and when needed perform waterline testing
  • Assist in scheduling/coordinating/reporting needed repairs calibrations and Physicists surveys
  • Assist with preparing and coordinates for external audits
  • Assist in performing quarterly internal audits reports findings to management
  • Ensure logbook maintenance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of dental assistant procedures principles of infection control and methods of sterilization.
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Windows Outlook Excel and PowerPoint or those pertaining to the position.
  • Proficient in the utilization of the electronic medical record system as it applies to the position.
  • Ability to:
    • Interpret client files and dental charts.
    • Learn and navigate through the Epic system.
    • Have basic computer skills.
    • Comprehend and follow oral and written directions.
    • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with all individuals.
    • Read write and communicate in English.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of individuals.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficient (Excel PowerPoint Word)

Education and Experience

  • Dental Assistant Certificate Completion of a Dental Assistant accredited program or school and must maintain Registered Dental Assistant license active throughout the length of employment
  • Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Minimum of three five years as a registered dental assistant
  • Two years experience in a lead role preferred
  • Front office experience

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 24 pounds
  • Operates in a clinical setting at times and requires frequent times of sitting standing walking repetitive motion and talking
  • Requires current and valid drivers license and current personal auto insurance
  • Able to travel to DAP Health locations throughout San Diego and the Coachella Valley
  • Able to work all shifts
  • Involves contact with patients or patient specimens. Exposure to blood body fluids and nonintact skin or tissue specimens is required.
  • Handling of biohazardous materials required
