The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated student intern! The groundwater modeling section is seeking a paid intern to assist with groundwater modeling tasks and research for ADWRs regionalscale MODFLOW models.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

All work including remote work should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
Research hydrologic and geologic concepts to create conceptual models for study areas complete GIS tasks and analysis to aid senior modelers help with data analysis for various model inputs review input data and calculations for accuracy technical writing to document workflows.
Schedule: Hours will vary from 20 hours per week up to 40 hours per week. A hybrid work schedule (some work in the office and some work from home) is available for this position.
The ideal candidate should have:
MODFLOW experience preferred but not required.
Candidates must be enrolled in school and pursing a degree in Hydrology Water Resource Management Geology Geography Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (EVerify).
Learn how to use hydrologic data to build MODFLOW models as well as develop knowledge about hydrologic principles.
Work with a creative collaborative team of people who enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience.
