Job Description

Job Title: Specialist Quality Engineering

Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for a Quality Engineer to join its operations organization in Clifton New Jersey. Works independently. Proven ability to drive FRB/MRB activities to closure. Ability to generate relevant metrics and present them to internal and external customers. Responsible for providing guidance coaching and training to other employees. Responsible for managing complex projects at this level involving delegation of work and review of work products.

Communicates within and outside of own function or business area and has responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g. customers vendors etc.) when necessary. Responsible for continuous improvement focus and Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) execution. Will execute with Program Management IPTs and Quality Leadership to report status and process improvements. Partners with other functions to achieve efficient resolution of issues without compromise to quality.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze defect data and implement data driven corrective actions
  • Drive continued improvement of the quality system and manufacturing processes
  • Present corrective actions and process improvements to internal and external audiences
  • Review interpret and ensure compliance to company policies and procedures engineering drawings customer contract requirements and product test procedures
  • Lead containment efforts of nonconforming material
  • Interface within the quality engineering team and across the various functions within their assigned program
  • Revise and improve manufacturing work instructions resulting in measurable impact
  • Initiate and review engineering design changes
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering in defect dispositioning of hardware and provide corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide return to print engineering dispositions for nonconforming products
  • Manage and coordinate material review board (MRB) dispositions for nonconforming product
  • Participate in biweekly Corrective Action Review Board (CAB)
  • Lead Quality projects in the reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
  • Knowledge or Certifications in IPCA610 IPCA620 Workmanship Standards.
  • Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or Six Sigma Black Belt are highly desirable.
