Job Description

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 210day Administrative Contract

Reports to: Superintendent or designee

Anticipated Start Date: 7/1/2025

QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

  • Valid Washington State Administrator Certificate (or ability to obtain)

  • Bachelors Degree in Education Sports Management or related field

  • Demonstrated experience in athletic program leadership at the middle or high school level

  • Strong knowledge of WIAA rules and regulations

  • Commitment to the academic social emotional and physical development of all studentathletes

  • Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaches school leaders staff students families and community partners

QUALIFICATIONSDESIRED: (Qualifications which would be useful to the position)

  • Masters Degree in Education Athletic Administration or related field
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

  • Three or more years of successful schoolbased administrative experience

  • Coaching and/or athletic director experience in a K12 public school setting

  • Familiarity with Arbiter Final Forms NFHS and WPA Network
  • Familiarity with multitiered systems of support (MTSS) and SEL initiatives

  • Budgeting and resource allocation experience

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Athletic Director will:

  • Oversee and coordinate all athletic programs and extracurricular sports for Columbia Middle School and Columbia High School
  • Provide Assistant Principal support at both the Columbia Middle and High school by promoting a safe inclusive and highachieving learning environment through student discipline staff collaboration and schoolwide leadership

  • Champion academic and athletic excellence through equitable access high expectations and integrity
  • The position will lead the development of a studentcentered athletics leadership group focused on promoting sportsmanship school pride and a positive athletic culture that engages and unites the entire school community

  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for studentathletes coaches and spectators

  • Supervise coaches provide professional development and ensure compliance with district league and WIAA guidelines

  • Collaborate with building administrators to ensure students maintain academic eligibility and support wholechild development

  • Manage athletic budgets facilities scheduling event planning including setup and take down and equipment procurement

  • Coordinate transportation officiating event security and support staff.

  • Promote sportsmanship and character education within all athletic programs

  • Serve as the district liaison to leagues associations and community partnerships

  • Facilitate communication with parents and the public regarding athletic events and studentathlete accomplishments

  • Uphold and model CSDs core values of equity commitment integrity and excellence
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Be highly visible at events actively supporting all school athletic programs

  • Communicate consistently and clearly with stakeholders at all levels

  • Lead with integrity and fairness while holding high expectations for conduct and performance

  • Be responsive reflective and committed to ongoing improvement of programs and people

Lifting:The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

Physical Hazards:While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from 10 degrees F to 100 degrees F . The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
