The Environmental Charter School is seeking a highly dedicated and motivated Health Teacher for our upcoming school year. Successful candidates must be progressive minded and embody a cando spirit and work ethic. OVERVIEW
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Health Teacher who is committed to promoting the holistic wellbeing of students through a focus on mental and physical health social and emotional learning (SEL) outdoor education and sustainability. This role is perfect for someone who believes in the power of education to shape healthy resilient individuals and who is eager to teach students essential life skills that integrate mental wellness emotional intelligence healthy living practices and environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate will design a curriculum that fosters emotional growth outdoor exploration and sustainable living practices while providing students with the tools to manage stress build relationships and make informed healthconscious decisions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and implement a dynamic studentcentered health education curriculum that emphasizes mental and physical wellbeing SEL outdoor education and sustainability.
- Teach students essential topics such as nutrition physical activity emotional regulation stress management body image substance abuse prevention mental health awareness and the importance of sustainability.
- Integrate social and emotional learning (SEL) principles into lessons including selfawareness selfmanagement social awareness relationship skills and responsible decisionmaking.
- Incorporate outdoor learning experiences that promote both physical activity and mental wellbeing such as nature hikes environmental stewardship activities and mindfulness exercises in outdoor settings.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students can engage in open discussions around mental health wellbeing and emotional challenges.
- Foster emotional intelligence by helping students develop empathy build resilience improve communication skills and navigate complex social situations.
- Teach students about sustainable living practices including ecofriendly habits healthy food choices and conservation efforts linking these practices to both individual health and the wellbeing of the planet.
- Collaborate with school counselors administration and community health professionals to ensure students have access to a full range of mental health socialemotional and environmental support.
- Assess student progress provide personalized feedback and adjust teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles and emotional needs.
- Serve as a role model for healthy sustainable living and emotional wellness inspiring students to make positive choices and adopt practices that support their longterm wellbeing.
- Stay current with best practices in health education SEL outdoor education mental health and sustainability.
Educational Background and Work Experience
- Bachelors degree in Health Education or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Certification in Health Education or Health and Physical Education required
- Certification in Social and Emotional Learning Outdoor Education or related field desirable
- Experience teaching health education with a focus on mental health physical wellbeing and SEL.
- Strong knowledge of mental health topics social and emotional learning frameworks physical health practices and sustainability principles.
- Ability to design and implement outdoor education programs that incorporate SEL and environmental sustainability.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- A passion for teaching and a commitment to nurturing students emotional intelligence and overall wellbeing.
- Ability to create an engaging inclusive classroom that fosters a sense of community personal growth and emotional support.
Compensation and Benefits
Minimum starting salary of $44716 with consideration given for prior years professional teaching experience.
