Engineer II: $69362 $80634
Engineer III: $82030 $95360

Job Description
The Engineer position is responsible for multiple aspects of the review process within the Water and Sewer Plan Review Section in the Development Division of Planning and Development.

Essential Duties:
  • Review of development plans for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to mandated guidelines pertaining specifically to water and sewer
  • Communicate plan review matters with design professionals and internal staff; provide technical assistance to other County staff outside contractors and the general public regarding engineering issues
  • Review of various reports zoning conditions recorded plats GIS maps and easements related to development projects
  • Research investigation and evaluation of complaints and inquiries received by the public or management regarding water and sewer issues
  • Maintain records associated with plan review; perform other duties of a similar nature or level
  • The Engineer II position will perform the above listed responsibilities and will perform multiple aspects of the review process requiring more experience and skill in evaluating engineering plans and maps as well as supporting larger more complex projects
  • The Engineer III position will perform the above listed responsibilities will serve as lead worker and may supervise staff and serve as backup to the manager as needed and perform other duties of a similar nature
Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
Engineer I (Grade C42(1)):
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Valid drivers license from the state of residency
Engineer II (Grade C43(1)):
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • One year of related experience
  • Valid drivers license from the state of residency
Engineer III (Grade C45(1)):
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience
  • Valid drivers license from the state of residency

Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the Countys values.

In addition to the executive side of County government certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett they include the Sheriff Tax Commissioner District Attorney Solicitor Probate Court Judge and Chief Magistrate.
