Job Title:Florida Endangered Species Social Media Intern

Duration:Up to 20 hours per week for 4 months

Scope: The Sierra Club Florida Chapter is made up of volunteer leaders and civic activists representing over 32000 members. Our mission is to enjoy explore and protect the natural and threatened places in Florida to teach others to understand and respect the fragile environment in which we live and to support equal environmental justice for all. Across the state there are 17 groups that tackle local environmental issues headon. The intern will work with Sierra Club Floridas Communications Director to amplify Sierra Club Floridas movement building and educational communications with the goal of increasing grassroots mobilization at both the local and state level.
Job activities include but are not limited to:
Collection of materials (videos photos graphics etc.) for social media use
Creation of digital communication materials including but not limited to graphics videos templates and other multimedia content
Drafting social media posts
Monitoring social media trends and brainstorming content ideas
Providing social media support and guidance to SCFL volunteers
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Good verbal and written communication skills
Graphic and video design skills (i.e. Canva Adobe Creative Suite etc.)
Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook X Instagram etc.) and best practices
Research skills
Experience or a strong interest in environmental protection and grassroots organizing
Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office and video conferencing
Good timemanagement skills
Commitment to evolution. You are committed to continuously deepening and evolving your own understanding of systems of oppression through study openness and humility. And you easily recognize your own relationship to privilege and power examining and shifting your behaviors as appropriate.

Compensation
The compensation for this position is $18/hour.
This is a category 99 nonexempt nonrepresented temporary position.
