What are Aladdin Data and Process Engineering
Data is at the heart of Aladdin and increasingly the ability to consume store analyse and gain insight from data has become a key component of our competitive advantage. Aladdin Data team is responsible for the data ecosystem within BlackRock. Our goal is to build and maintain a leadingedge data platform that provides highly available consistent data of the highest quality for all users of the platform notably investors operations teams and data scientists. We focus on evolving our platform to deliver exponential scale to the firm powering the future growth of Aladdin.
Process Engineering engineers at BlackRock get to experience working at one of the most recognized financial companies in the world while being part of a software development team responsible for next generation technologies and solutions. Our engineers design and build large scale applications data pipelines process integrations for computation processes and distributed systems. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers.
Responsibilities include:
Take ownership of individual project priorities deadlines and deliverables using AGILE methodologies
Deliver high efficiency high availability concurrent and fault tolerant software systems.
Understand and refine business and functional requirements.
Significantly contribute to development of Aladdin Datas Process Engineering platform.
Work with product management and business users to define the roadmap for the product.
Design and develop innovative solutions to complex problems identifying issues and roadblocks.
Maintain and evolve AI/ML models maximising and contributing powerful technologies/ infrastructure
Apply validated quality software engineering practices through all phases of development.
Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews unit regression and user acceptance testing dev ops and level two production support.
Be a leader with vision and a partner in brainstorming solutions for team productivity efficiency guiding and motivating others.
Drive a strong culture by bringing principles of inclusion and diversity to the team and setting the tone through specific recruiting management actions and employee engagement.
Providing L2 or L3 support for technical and/or operational issues.
Qualifications:
B.S. / M.S. degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related subject area
6 years of relevant experience.
Skills and Experience:
A proven foundation in core Java and related technologies with OO skills and design patterns
Design and implement microservicesbased architectures ensuring modularity scalability and maintainability of the system and work with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to package and deploy applications consistently across different environments
Experience to cloud native technology like Kubernetes docker microservices etc.
Previous experience related to building prompts for AI/ML models is preferred
Track record building high quality software with designfocused and testdriven approaches
Good handson objectoriented programming knowledge in Java Spring TypeScript JavaScript Microservices Angular (2.0).
Strong knowledge of OpenSource technology stack (Spring Hibernate Maven JUnit).
Advanced knowledge and experience developing and working with relational databases (e.g. MySQL Sybase) and NoSQL distributed storage technologies (e.g. Cassandra)
Great analytical problemsolving and communication skills
Some experience or a real interest in finance investment processes and/or an ability to translate business problems into technical solutions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in a teamoriented environment.
Nice to have and opportunities to learn:
Python or Golang knowledge
Exposure to building microservices and APIs ideally with REST Kafka or gRPC.
Experience working in an agile development team or on opensource development projects.
Experience with optimization algorithms or related quantitative processes.
Exposure to high scale distributed technology like Kafka go Ignite Redis
Experience with Cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure AWS Google Cloud
Experience with DevOps and tools like Azure DevOps
Experience with AIrelated projects/products or experience working in an AI research environment.
