Pathology Coordinator
The Duchy Hospital
37.5 Hours & 12 Months Fixed Term
Salary: Up to 26000.00 per year (depending on level of experience training and qualification)
We have an opportunity for a Pathology Coordinator to join their team of staff in the Pathologydepartment.
This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
- Oversee the daytoday coordination of pathology services ensuring timely and accurate processing of diagnostic tests.
- Liaise with internal departments and external laboratories to manage test requests collections and result reporting.
- Ensure all specimens are correctly labelled packaged and transported in accordance with national guidelines.
- Act as the first point of contact for pathologyrelated queries from clinical staff consultants and laboratory providers.
- Ensure results are communicated promptly to the appropriate clinical teams escalating abnormal or urgent results as necessary.
- Maintain strong working relationships with pathology service providers to support smooth and responsive operations.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
Previous experience in a healthcare laboratory or diagnostic services environment.
Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and ability to liaise with clinical and nonclinical colleagues.
Basic understanding of medical terminology and diagnostic processes.
Ability to work independently prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
