As the Counsellor Marooloo Child Sexual Abuse Services you will provide therapeutic supports to Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander young people (under the age of 25) who have experienced sexual abuse or trauma. You may also work with young people who are responsible for or at risk of sexually abusing other children. You will use your significant experience as a counsellor to provide a service that includes consultation assessment referral and counselling for children parents and extended family members and carers who have been exposed to child abuse. You will also be part of developing and delivering educational groups for parents and carers children and community members.
The role is colocated with other Anglicare WA staff in our Derby office and will receive clinical supervision and line management support remotely from our Broome based office. This is a full time fixed term contact until 30 September 2026.
What you will bring
To be successful in this role you will have:
You will be an exceptional communicator who can build relationships and work with a range of stakeholders including local Child Protection and Family Services staff Police health agencies and other local services for referrals and ongoing support of clients and to promote the development of the Indigenous Child Sexual Abuse Referral Service (ICSARS).
The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year a WA Working with Children Check and WA Drivers License.
