The main purpose of the Financial Accountant role is to ensure the consistent delivery of accurate financial reporting compliance with tax regulations and support the overall financial management of the Valeo Foods UK business.
Accounting
- Management of the internal month end reporting file
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper accounting records are kept including ensuring new account codes are set up.
- Support with intercompany accounting process and ensure all balances reconcile.
- Completion of periodend review including monthly reporting packs for management reporting and posting periodend journals within VFUK businesses.
- Completion of monthly group reporting to Valeo Group and liaising directly with them as required.
- Complete reconciliation of One Stream month end numbers to internal numbers to ensure alignment.
- Completion of yearend reporting requirements for UK Entities & Valeo Group.
- Support preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and journals for internal controls
- Manage relationship with Dutch professional services firm used for Subsidiary accounting and taxation support.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage opening and closing of month ends and set up accounting calendars for the next financial year
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
Taxation
- Preparation of corporation tax packs and liaising with Valeo Group Tax team on corporation tax computations and tax matters.
- Lead the preparation of R&D tax credit claims with external advisors/consultants
- Lead the preparation and submission of VAT corporation tax and other tax returns within statutory deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC/local tax regulations (including Customs Duty) and monitor changes in tax laws.
- Lead Tax Control Reviews & Audit
- Assist in tax planning strategies to optimize tax efficiency.
- Liaise with tax authorities (HMRC) and external consultants regarding tax filings control reviews and audits.
- Conduct reconciliations between financial statements and tax filings.
Fixed Asset Register
- Maintenance of group fixed asset register and adherence to fixed asset accounting policies including additions and disposals processes.
- Ensure assets are being depreciated in line with internal guidance
Insurance
- Manage the Insurance engagement with Marsh (and any other broker appointed by group)
- Lead the insurance renewal process and coordinate the completion of the questionnaire template and other related data request.
- Maintain and communicate the insurance documents to relevant stakeholders
Stakeholders & Business Support
- Provide financial insights and analysis to management for decisionmaking.
- Work closely with crossfunctional teams to support business operations.
- Assist in adhoc financial projects as required.
Qualifications :
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA ACCA CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification at this level) with 35 years PQE
- Experience of a financial or management accountsbased finance role (providing insight and commentary) and tax compliance
- Experience working with ERP/accounting software (e.g. Sage Oracle IFS).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and tax regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Food industry or commercial environment experience preferred but not essential
