Recreation Officer Community

Delahey Office (Delahey VIC)

Casual Basis

  • Work with a rapidly growing not for profit organisation committed to social justice
  • Competitive base rate: $32.82 $43.53 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications) 25% casual loading
  • Casual Basis providing ad hoc relief to the teams at Wintringham Community Housing sites.
  • Based at our Delahey Office and servicing other Community Housing Sites in the Melbourne CBD Carlton Williamstown & East Bentleigh (VIC)

Wintringham is a specialised nonreligious notforprofit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of highquality care housing and services. We employ more than 1000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.

Your new role

We are looking for passionate candidates who are seeking Casual employment in the Recreation team at our Delahey facility while providing ad hoc relief to the teams at our other Melbourne sites in the CBD Carlton Williamstown and East Bentleigh. In this role you will assist the Recreation Coordinator to continually develop and facilitate individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client in the assigned community regions.

Your responsibilities and duties will also include:

  • Identify resident individual interests and plan activities accordingly
  • Ensure recreational pursuits are facilitated in a fashion that maximises the resident recreational independence
  • Encourage the support of families and friends
  • Purchase equipment as required and approved by the Recreation Coordinator
  • Promote recreational opportunities available within the broader community
  • Monitor expenditure in line with budgets
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development and where required attend compulsory training sessions
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Be aware of relevant legislative standards and guidelines
  • Pursue ongoing development in order to enhance knowledge of contemporary practices and broaden understanding of own responsibilities
  • Identify assess and control hazards

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A relevant qualification in Leisure and Lifestyle.
  • Experience working with people who are at risk or experienced homelessness.
  • Current drivers licence (mandatory)
  • Working reliable vehicle (mandatory)
  • An understanding of complex clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Welldeveloped communications skills and the ability to engage people from varying backgrounds.
  • First Aid Certificate.
