The Manitoba Mtis Federation(MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Mtisalso known as the Manitoba Mtis. The Red River Mtis are a distinct IndigenousNation and People and Canadas Negotiating Partners in Confederation and theFounders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill onefulltime Case Worker position within the Housing First Program locatedwithin our Southwest Regional Office in Brandon MB. The Case Worker isresponsible for managing participant case files for the Housing First program andfor providing a broad spectrum of effective and culturally appropriate rapidservices.
Job Duties/Competencies:
Welcome clients guide them to the right contacts/services and provide information in person by phone or electronically;
Assess clients situation/problems and determine the type of services required;
Provide clear and accurate program/services information to clients;
Provide services that optimize dignity selfdetermination and attainment of personal outcomes;
Respond to participant crises or emergencies for immediate intervention; or responds to crisis calls;
Provide individual emotional physical social and vocational support to clients in a respectful and caring manner;
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor of Social Work or an equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered;
A minimum of two years experience in front line Case Management;
Knowledge of communitybased resources and how to access them;
Knowledge in the areas of addictions attachment mental health and trauma and how it impacts families;
Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) Employment & Income Assistance (EIA) and other related systems;
Strong assessment skills and experience conducting investigations including gathering and analyzing information to implement appropriate actions;
Experience developing and supporting a strong respectful teambased approach to service delivery;
Experience working for a notforprofit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
Knowledge of Red River Mtis culture MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and
Ability to travel valid Manitoba Drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle.
