What is the Opportunity
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design procurement early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
The Quality Control Inspector will report directly to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for performing inprocess and final inspections to ensure construction activities meet technical and quality requirements.
What Youll Do Here:
- Perform quality inspections and testing activities in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan.
- Complete all associated records to document the status and results of performed inspections.
- Understand and interpret technical drawings for civil works.
- Verify that material meets Purchase Order Code Standards requirements.
- Initiate nonconformance reports when required.
- Identify and segregating nonconforming items.
- Collaborate in the development and maintenance of project specific procedures and work instructions.
- Collaborate with management for interface on Quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers suppliers subcontractors and others).
- Verify that calibrated equipment is used during the performance of inspection activities.
- Supplier quality surveillance and onsite material receiving inspection as required
- Support with the preparation of History File or History Docket.
- Promote safety awareness including adhering to safety rules and requirements.
- Other activities as required by Management.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent. A combination of education and industry experience will also be considered.
- 13 years experience in heavy civil industrial and/or infrastructure construction.
- Previous experience with inspection and testing of concrete.
- Previous tunneling experience would be considered an asset.
- Working knowledge on the CSA A23.1 CSA A23.2 CSA N291 and CSA N287 standards and other applicable building regulations.
- Working knowledge on the CSA W47.1 and CSA W59 standards.
- ACI/CCIL certification (preferred)
- Have knowledge of ASTM standard for grout testing sampling and application (Preferred)
- Previous experience of inspection and testing of tunnel activities would be an asset
- CSA W178 Level 1 or 2 Visual Welding Inspection (preferred).
- Selfdirected motivated team player who thrives in a fastpaced environment.
- Proficiently with MS Office Suite.
- Understands design and construction requirements.
- Strong coordination and organization skills with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all internal organization departments Alliance partners subcontractors and regulatory authorities.
