Job Description

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paraprofessional Sheffield City Schools (Alabama)

Spur a digital staffing agency is seeking a dedicated and punctual Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paraprofessional to support Sheffield City Schools.

Position Overview

This role involves working closely with teachers and staff to support special needs students while following medical care plans as needed. The ideal candidate will be professional adaptable and efficient in a fastpaced educational environment while adhering to the policies set by both the school and Spur.

Paraprofessionals are expected to dress in business casual attire and represent the school positively. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care and follow prescribed medical plans.
  • Work oneonone or in small groups with students.
  • Assist students with basic grade schoollevel coursework.
  • Support students in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assist students with bathroom needs.
  • Escort or supervise students during school activities.
  • Manage physical tasks including lifting pushing or pulling up to 65 pounds regularly.
  • Adapt to varied and changing student behaviors.
  • Maintain CPI certification (must be trained and updated annually).
  • Provide services to students with disabilities as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with students staff parents and the community.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification required.
  • Must complete a State of Alabama Background Check ($48.00).
  • Must complete MCS Training (provided at no cost by Spur Training Manager).
  • Required online training.
  • At least one year of experience working with special needs children.
  • Experience in special education classrooms daycare training programs or approved community college training programs is preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay: $19.45 $19.64 per hour (based on experience).
  • Schedule: Monday Friday 7:30 AM 3:30 PM (school session hours may vary by location).
