THIS POSITION
You will set up and maintain criminal and civil files and enter initial and updated information into computer; coordinate the scheduling of hearings and trial dates and notify all parties; ensure pleadings and motions are monitored and routed to judicial officer; prepare summons bench warrants arrest warrants and judgments; distribute court documents to appropriate agencies; respond to questions regarding criminal proceedings; and generate receipts for funds received from the public or agencies.
Other duties will include transferring files and paperwork to out of town courts; and perform filing and fill out disbursement forms for release of position will also maintain master jury list screen jurors through questionnaires used for qualification purposes; monitor jury attendance excusals and deferments; and maintain jury room and prepare juror pay cards. You will respond to a variety of questions from the public other court staff and other agencies without giving legal advice; answer phones and direct calls to proper staff; and fulfill records requests.
Additionally you will prepare the courtroom operate and monitor electronic recording equipment; troubleshoot problems with recording system and computers; keep log notes of court proceedings and prepare forms for judicial officers signature; swear in witnesses and jurors and secure and maintain exhibits; and maintain supplies and serve as bailiff during trial as needed.

The Work Hours
Fulltime court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a onehour lunch break.

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.
OR
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a twoyear paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.
OR
A bachelors degree from an accredited college.

WORK HISTORY

EDUCATION

SELECTION PROCEDURE
