Position Summary
Livingstone College is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Sociology beginning the Fall 2025 semester to teach various courses in Sociology. Teaching needs range from Principles of Sociology Social Change Social Theory and Social Stratification. Advising for the Sociology learning community and serving on campus committees are additional assigned responsibilities. THIS IS AN IN PERSON POSITION
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Teach 15 credit hours per fall semester and 12 credit hours per spring semester in addition to keeping 8 office hours each semester.
Preparing course outlines and syllabi in accordance with program standards.
Participate in curriculum/program development.
Actively engage in student mentoring and advisement.
Attend department and division meetings.
Manage the department and supervise faculty within the department.
Participate in grant writing.
Use technology to enhance student learning.
Serve on college committees.
Perform other contractual duties.
Education/ Experience
What you will need to be successful!
Masters or Doctorate degree in Sociology. PhD in Sociology preferred. At least two years of postmasters degree experience working in the profession.
Strong communication skills a plus;
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and instruction;
Dedication to providing quality instruction for all students.
