AT&Ts Chief Data Office (CDO) is harnessing data and making AT&Ts data assets and groundbreaking AI functionality accessible to employees across the firm. We are looking for an accomplished and visionaryprofessional for the role ofAssociate Director AI/Data Engineering to join our team and lead the development of cuttingedge software solutions. As a key technical leader you will leverage your expertise infullstack developmentDevOps best practices andapplicationside shell scriptingto architect scalable reliable and efficient systems.
This role demands a strategic thinker and handson contributor who can work across multiple teams drive innovation and ensure technical excellence. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical roadmap mentoring teams and delivering transformative solutions that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for scalable resilient and secure fullstack applications.
- Lead endtoend software development projects from concept to deployment and maintenance.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Serve as a mentor and technical advisor to engineering teams fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
FullStack Development:
- Design and implement scalable and highperformance web applications usingmodern frontend and backend frameworks(e.g. React Angular Python Java).
- Develop modular and reusable APIs (RESTful or GraphQL) with an emphasis on maintainability and performance.
- Ensure seamless integration of frontend and backend systems while maintaining best practices for UI/UX design.
- Optimize database structures and queries for both relational (e.g. MySQL PostgreSQL) and nonrelational (e.g. MongoDB DynamoDB) databases.
DevOps and Automation:
- Architect and implementCI/CD pipelinesto streamline build test and deployment processes.
- Ensure seamless deployment and scalability of applications throughcontainerization tools(e.g. Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes).
- Leverageinfrastructureascodesolutions (e.g. Terraform Ansible) to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Monitor application performance troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability through tools likePrometheus Grafana orNew Relic.
Shell Scripting and Automation:
- Develop and maintainshell scriptsto automate routine tasks system monitoring and application deployments.
- Debug and troubleshoot production issues using scripting techniques to ensure minimal downtime.
- Enhance system efficiency by automating log analysis error detection and reporting.
Strategic Contribution:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical priorities with business goals.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to recommend and implement solutions that advance the organizations technical capabilities.
- Establish and enforce software engineering best practices ensuring robust security scalability and maintainability.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors or Masters degree inComputer Science Software Engineering or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
Experience:
- 13 yearsof experience in software engineering including handson experience with fullstack development and DevOps practices.
- Proven track record of delivering largescale highimpact software solutions in a leadership capacity.
Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency infrontend frameworks(React Angular or ) andbackend technologies( Python Java Go etc.).
- Strong experience withDevOps tools(Jenkins GitLab CI/CD Docker Kubernetes).
- Deep understanding ofcloud platforms(AWS Azure GCP) including architecture and deployment strategies.
- Solid grasp ofdatabase technologies(SQL and NoSQL) and optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in writing debugging and maintainingshell scriptsfor automation and system monitoring.
- Strong knowledge ofmicroservices architecture API gateways and distributed systems.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional problemsolving and criticalthinking abilities.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset capable of balancing technical depth with business impact.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience withserverless computing frameworks(e.g. AWS Lambda).
- Certifications incloud platforms(e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect Azure DevOps Engineer Expert).
- Knowledge ofsecurity best practicesin software development and DevOps.
