Cytivas Membrane Chromatography R&D team is looking for a leader for its Hardware Design and Engineering department based at their new state of the art R&D facility in Sycamore House Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of design and mechanical engineers as well as engineering technicians focused on developing Cytivas next generation membrane chromatography products. Through a combination of computational and practical design approaches including additive manufacturing the teams core remit involves developing the membrane chromatography devices and the necessary supporting hardware in order to optimize the bioprocessing performance of Cytivas new and evolving range of Fibro chromatography top of this you will also be involved in the development of the manufacturing processes required to produce these products.
As a team leader you take on people management responsibilities for a team of highly skilled and talented mechanical and design engineers. You will provide direction by translating high level strategies into tangible group objectives and deliverables and act as a technical mentor for your team members. Youll also be expected to act as an engineering subject matter expert (SME) providing technical input to project teams focused on developing the next generation of membrane chromatography based bioprocessing solutions. As well as the local team of engineers in Stevenage youll also have the opportunity to work with engineering teams from across Cytivas global network. You will join the R&D leadership team in Stevenage working alongside the leaders of the other R&D technical functions. You will also collaborate with product and project managers as well as Cytivas manufacturing and operations teams.
What Youll Do:
Leading and providing direction to the R&D hardware design and engineering team at Cytiva Stevenage
Coordinating hardware design and development activities with other Cytiva R&D teams
Supporting progression of R&D projects directed towards New Product Introductions (NPIs) and the improvement of existing Cytiva products
Managing projects and stakeholder expectations to ensure alignment of defined project deliverables and realised project outcomes.
Authoring and overseeing the detailing of documentation including engineering drawings tolerances technical specifications verification plans and reports.
Leveraging Cytivas robust QMS systems and tools to facilitate and manage design transfer from R&D to Cytivas manufacturing and supply chain teams and with relevant Contract Manufacturing Organisations
Contributing towards the short medium and long term hardware development strategy for Cytivas range of membrane chromatography products
Drive the use of Danaher Business System (DBS) tools including but not limited to daily management Kaizen and Problem Solving Process (PSP)
Who you are:
Minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent higherlevel qualification in a relevant mechanical/design engineering field
4 years experience in engineering design preferably within a cGMP environment
Experience with leading engineering projects and project teams
Proven experience of designing components for a variety of manufacturing processes such as machining sheet metalwork and/or injection moulding.
Understanding of computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysis
Proficient in 3D CAD (Solidworks and/or CREO)
Experience in chromatography membrane filtration or bioprocessing is desirable
Experience in reactor design/ process engineering is desirable
