Job Description

A snapshot of the role

The Account Manager (AM) is responsible for the daytoday management of the account. Taking ownership of the deliverables ensuring deadlines are met identifying the resources required and prioritising effectively to ensure projects move forward. There is also a strong focus on supporting junior team members to develop strong project management and client service skills while providing oversight and being the first port of call for questions and guidance required.

The AM will be a key client contact providing visibility on project timelines and status and providing recommendations on how to navigate any identified barriers. You will take the lead on most client callsand be a key partner for the client making them feel that their business is important to us that we are responsive to their needs and dedicated to providing excellent client service.

You will be a role model for junior team members and plays an important role in making sure that dna Communications provides a supportive nurturing and fun environment for people beginning their careers in healthcare communications and youwill be looking to develop their understanding of the healthcare environment and their clients business in order to provide strategic input and contribute to plans and proposals.

Key responsibilities

Client responsibilities

  • Is the daytoday project manager on a specific clients business. Being aware of all ongoing projects within their client portfolio/s and the resources required to deliver projects to time and on budget. Providing worldclass client service meeting the expectations of both the client and the dna senior leadership team
  • Ensures clients are regularly updated and leads daytoday client communications (written or verbal) on the tactics/projects they are responsible for. Ensures client calls have agendas notes are sent within 24 hours actions allocated appropriately etc.
  • Independently plans ahead to ensure projectcritical resources plus key staff (internal and external) are available when needed to ensure timely delivery of all projects
  • Proficiently prepares and reviews key materials and client correspondence and contributes to more complex materials such as plans and new business proposals
  • Supports financial administration for their account/s taking responsibility for financial administration being up to date such as cost trackers time sheets financial reconciliations and budgets
  • Is aware of the scope of agreed budgets and identifies any outofscope client requests at the time that the requests are made and flags appropriately to ensure additional work has associated budget
  • Manages supplier relationships ensures that invoices are received and paid POs are raised and all appropriate financial processes are followed
  • Client service excellence
  • Quality control on deliverables including suitability for their desired purpose

Agency responsibilities

  • Takes responsibility for the experience of the team
  • Supports junior team members to develop their project management skills and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and broader healthcare environment
  • Supports allocated internal agency work streams e.g. marketing internal comms training etc.
  • Helps junior team members to understand the importance of the work they do and how it supports the client
  • Accesses availability of more senior team members as appropriate

Required skills and competencies

Client work skills

  • Excellent client service skills showing full understanding of dna client service principles policies and procedures
  • Ability to take a client brief solicit the required information to deliver work to required expectations and to ascertain timings audiences and purpose of any deliverables
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the disciplines across the communications spectrum with a focus on medical education/PR
  • Understanding of key medical education services and ability to advise clients on suitability of different tactics to meet communications objectives
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite to create client deliverables to a high standard in terms of both content and format/aesthetic appeal
  • Excellent presentation skills able to present proposals and the rationale behind them to both internal and external senior audiences. Includes excellent PowerPoint formatting skills
  • Ability to validate the scientific accuracy of materials identifying claims and content that will require a supporting citation
  • Developing accurate budgets and associated scope of work documents for client programmes
  • Able to use Veeva/PromoMats and/or any other appropriate platform to enable the agency to support client approval of deliverables
  • Understanding of the healthcare environment in the UK and Europe and/or in other geographical regions as required and topical awareness of key issues facing the delivery of healthcare
  • Understanding story flow and ensuring all assets tell a scientific story in line with client
    strategic imperatives
  • Conversant with the ABPI/PMCPA and EFPIA codes of practice able to advise both clients and team members of the existence and requirements of these codes as they apply to our work

Preferred experience and qualifications

  • Three years experience of medical communications or equivalent
  • Experience of supporting client events such as medical symposia congress work advisory boards (budget >25000)
  • Experience of project management and delivery of complex projects on time and within budget
  • Experience of financial management of projects and overseeing suppliers
  • Experience of client service and administration
  • Undergraduate scientific degree or equivalent experience
