The successful candidate will work for the Local Government Pension Scheme at Merseyside Pension Fund which is administered by Wirral Council and based in Liverpool City Centre.

Merseyside Pension Fund (MPF) is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and is one of the largest local government pension funds in the UK with assets more than 10bn.

The Fund is a contributory defined benefit pension scheme and is administrated by Wirral Council to provide pensions and other benefits for pensionable employees of over 200 employers including the Merseyside Local Authorities and a range of other employing bodies.

About the Role:

To assist the Director of Pensions and the Head of Private Markets in the provision of a highperforming wellmanaged investment management service.

The Investment Manager will have daytoday management responsibilities for MPFs nonlisted Private Market Funds portfolios. They will be actively involved in private equity infrastructure and credit investing some of which will be via MPFs commitment to NPEP. NPEP is a vehicle which makes commitments to underlying private equity funds on behalf of its founding partners: West Yorkshire Pension Fund Merseyside Pension Fund and Greater Manchester Pension Fund.

About the candidate:

We are looking for someone who is charter holder of suitable investment related qualification educated to degree level or with equivalent experience. The successful candidate will have a minimum fiveyear track record of managing investments with a thorough understanding of financial markets and portfolio management. You will be experienced in research analysis and evaluation and as such can operate with a high degree of autonomy prioritising competing work demands.

As part of the Northern LGPS Pool MPF currently operates within a joint committee structure. However following the Fit for Future consultation issued in November 2024 it is anticipated that the Pool will transition into an FCAregulated entity operating independently from its partner funds. Consequently the MPF investment team is expected to transfer to this newly regulated entity under TUPE regulations.
