The Opportunity
Aecon Industrial is seeking a passionate project manager to help us execute complex Heavy Industrial projects across Canada. Reporting to our VP Industrial East the successful candidate will play a key role in the success of our business unit.Please Note: the successful candidate for this role must be able to mobilize to project sites across Canada.
What youll do here;
Be accountable for ensuring all project management activities are successfully executed including;
- Support the proposal/estimating team to provide a quality submission that is both competitive and achievable
- Lead transition from estimating to project execution
- Build and mentor project team
- Promote a work environment that limits employee turnover
- Develop project goals to meet or exceed the owners deliverables and align with Aecons corporate initiatives
- Actively promote and prioritize safety above all else
- Adhere to the critical path (i.e. ensure effective project controls to track monitor and adjust the schedule)
- Demonstrate commercial acumen to control costs and improve margins
- Enforce timely change management practices
- Oversee quality testing startup and commissioning
- Accurately forecast and report performance (e.g. safety schedule cost and quality)
- Identify mitigate and manage project risks
- Oversee procurement of subcontractors major equipment and line materials
- Effectively negotiate and execute contracts in a timely and costeffective manner
- Manage and foster all stakeholder relations (e.g. Owner Regulators Subcontractors Suppliers etc.)
- Chair project management meetings with a focus on the best outcomes for Aecon
What you bring to the team:
- 10 years of construction experience
- Experience executing Heavy Industrial projects is a requirement.
- Postsecondary education in engineering construction management trades or equivalent discipline
- Background in Mechanical Electrical or Civil Works
- Previous management experience with alternative project delivery is an asset (e.g. designbuild construction management at risk P3 IPD etc.)
- Able and willing to travel for work (required)
- Experience with BIM considered a benefit
- Experience executing Lean Construction Principles considered a benefit
- General knowledge of nonresidential construction methods building systems and terminology
