POSITION SUMMARY

Our jobs arent just about serving guests during a banquet or event. Instead we want to build an experience that is memorable and unique. Our Guest Event Experts are skilled in a wide range of event functions with responsibility for making sure the event is wellexecuted from start to finish. Whether setting up or breaking down the materials transporting supplies taking orders interacting with guests or anything in between the Guest Event Expert makes transactions feel like part of the experience.

No matter what position you are in there are a few things that are critical to success creating a safe work place following company policies and procedures upholding quality standards and ensuring your uniform personal appearance and communications are professional. Guest Service Experts will be on their feet and moving around (stand sit or walk for an extended time) and taking a handson approach to work. Doing all these things well (and other reasonable job duties as requested) is critical for Guest Event Experts to get it right for our guests and our business each and every time.

SPECIFIC DUTIES CONFERENCE

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

  • Report work related accidents or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean safe and secure environment.
  • Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
  • Use proper equipment wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE) and employ correct lifting procedures as necessary to avoid injury.
  • Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools equipment and machines.
  • Ensure uniform nametags and personal appearance are clean hygienic professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile eye contact and a friendly verbal greeting using the guests name when possible.
  • Assist other employees to ensure proper coverage and prompt guest service.
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
  • Follow appropriate procedures for serving alcohol (if applicable)
  • Communicate additional meal requirements allergies dietary needs and special requests to the kitchen.
  • Set tables according to type of event and service standards within the area you are working including types of linens

glassware plate/chinaware and silver/flatware ensuring all supplies meet quality standards.

  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with food course and/or beverages.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of assigned tables including ensuring courses are cleared according to department standards and tables are properly crumbed when appropriate.
  • Prepare coffee breaks carts and stations with appropriate food and beverages as stated in Banquet Event Order.
  • Prepare tables service stations buffets service carts water carts with specified tools and equipment according to

company standards.

  • Respond to and try to fulfil any requests by guests.
  • Replenish buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation from opening to closing.
  • Follow up on special banquet event arrangements requested by guest to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure floats are counted (if used) and balanced at start and end of shift and they are secure at all times. Blind

Banking procedures are followed along with all local and Marriott policies and procedures.

  • To enter covers and financial information into the appropriate spreadsheet.
  • To ensure guests are greeted by name wherever possible.
  • To ensure a mis en place is always ready before commencing service.
  • To work as a team player within the department.
  • To adhere to all food hygiene guidelines.
  • To report any shortages of any item which would detrimentally affect service standards
  • To guard against wastage.
  • Clean sweep and mop you area of work before finishing your shift
  • Each associate is expected to carry out within their capabilities all reasonable requests by management.

SPECIFIC DUTIES ROOM SERVICE

  • Set up orders and deliver to rooms.
  • Receive orders from Switchboard Operator
  • Prepare Room Service Trays to the required standard
  • Collect food when ready from the kitchen
  • Deliver to the guest room in a professional manner and follow the Marriott standards for room service delivery.
  • Conduct Tray walks on a regular basis to collect used trays from bedrooms and or bedroom corridors
  • Break down tray and take used cutlery / plates etc to wash area and return tray clean and dry ready for reuse.
  • Receive cash on delivery for order if no credit is available. If charging to room obtain signature from guest upon delivery.
  • Clean and tidy all areas of the room service preparation room inc emptying of bins.
  • Correctly use the Point of Sales equipment and follow procedures.
  • Complete all daily and weeklyassigned side work.
  • Each associate is expected to carry out within their capabilities all reasonable requests by management.
  • Ensure floats are counted and balanced at start and end of shift and they are secure at all times. Blind Banking procedures are followed along with all local and Marriott policies and procedures.
  • Clean sweep and mop your area of work before finishing your shift

SPECIFIC DUTIES EXECUTIVE LOUNGE

  • To ensure that you have a full product knowledge of all menu items and their service to ensure excellent
    levels of customer satisfaction.
  • To ensure that all personnel procedures and company standards are adhered to at all times.
  • To contribute to any training you are involved in.
  • To continually identify training needs in order to achieve GSS targets.
  • To attend monthly departmental meetings.
  • To communicate freely with all F & B and Front Office personnel about any relevant information such as customer
    comments.
  • To ensure that the Executive Lounge area is clean and hygienic at all times.
  • To sign in and out on your daily timesheets
  • To ensure all services and products offered are consistent and of good quality that will be reflected in
    the GSS.
  • To be aware of all standards set down on a daily basis with regards to SOPs daily standards and brand
    standards.
  • Prepare and restock the waiter stations per the SOPs.
  • Clean sweep and mop your area of work before finishing your shift

SPECIFIC DUTIES ASSOCIATE DINING

  • From time to time you may be asked to deliver food to the associate dining area
  • Associate dining area should be cleaned when requested
  • Associate dining area should be set up in time for food service

OTHER

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Process all payment methods in accordance with accounting procedures and policies.
  • Count banking at end of your shift complete designated cashier reports resolve any discrepancies drop off receipts and secure banking.
  • Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies obtaining change required for expected business level and keeping bank secure at all times.
  • Follow property control audit standards and cash handling procedures (e.g. blind drops).
  • Transport banking to/from assigned workstation following security procedures.
  • Complies with Marriott International Hotels Limited Regional Office policies and procedures.
  • Working hours as required to do your job
  • To use the clock in and our system each time you start and finish your shift (Kronos)
  • Micros cards/passwords must not be left unattended under any circumstances not shared with anyone and must be stored appropriately whilst off duty.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Related Work Experience: Less than 1 year related work experience.

Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience.

License or Certification: None
