Who you are:
We are looking for Senior Software Developers who excel at solving complex problems with clean scalable code. Youre passionate about transforming massive data streams into actionable insights and thrive when working across the stackfrom databases to frontend interfaces. You understand the performance tradeoffs of design decisions and bring a deep knowledge of multithreading UI/UX best practices and scalable architectures. As a senior team member youre not only a strong individual contributor but also a mentor and technical leader who helps guide the broader team toward engineering excellence.
What youll do:
Aa Senior Software Developer at Geotab youll be instrumental in building and scaling our advanced telematics platform. Youll work with cuttingedge technologies to create responsive webbased applications and services that process realtime data from millions of connected devices.
How youll make an impact
- Listen and contribute to design discussions and make detailed notes and documenting requirements and technical design.
- Provide guidance to more junior team members sharing knowledge across the teams.
- Write scalable high quality and secure software in a variety of programming languages and environments such as C# Java JavaScript SQL.
- Perform quality assurance by doing peer review ensuring coding standards are followed looking for logic errors and other bugs.
- Analyze call stacks trace files performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs.
- Participate in development of prototypes minimum viable products and proofs of concept.
- Provide assistance to our support staff and resellers from a technical perspective. This may be in the form of oncall or adhoc questions relating to how certain features work or verifying the behaviour by reviewing code.
- Research new language features frameworks and other relevant technologies and offer recommendations to Leads and senior leaders.
- Assist in defining best practices to be used in the team.
- Provide design documents and documentation to ensure efficient maintenance and code reuse.
- Ensure the functionality performance scalability reliability realistic implementation schedules and system architecture for each assignment.
What youll bring to the role
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering Software Engineering or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in fullstack software development.
- Proficient in C# or Java with strong knowledge of objectoriented design unit testing optimization and multithreaded programming.
- Some experience with JavaScript CSS and HTML.
- Experience with additional languages and technologies is a plus including Python TypeScript ES6 .NET Core Google Compute Engine and Google BigQuery.
- Working knowledge of Cloud computing experience with GCP AWS and/or Azure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to problemsolve to welljudged decisions.
- A strong teamplayer with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Technical competence using software programs including but not limited to Google Suite for business (Sheets Docs Slides).
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
