The Radiation Protection Surveyor is responsible for the maintenance of site radiological hygiene including monitoring all aspects of the TRIUMF radiation environment and documenting the results. They assist functional groups in conducting their work and provide radiationspecific safety advice to all personnel. The incumbent assists in providing instruction and radiation protection training to staff who require it.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential to excel in this position. A basic knowledge of radiation protection and its associated quantities and units principles of radiation dosimetry and a general understanding of gamma spectroscopy and related electronics are required. Laboratory experience and a deeper understanding of radiation phenomena and its interaction with matter are considered assets.
Given the complexity of TRIUMFs operations the role of a Radiation Protection Surveyor may include any or all of the following:
The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete the TRIUMF inhouse radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.
Minimum qualifications include graduation from a relevant program at a technical institution. In addition this position requires experience working in a laboratory or similar environment for at least one year.
Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
