The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is seeking a competent confident
motivated individual to fill the position of a Senior English Teacher at Father Megret High School
located in Hatchet Lake Saskatchewan. In this role you will provide strong interpersonal skills
commitment to learning and teaching in projectbased ways and provide an enthusiastic learning
environment for students.
The ADEA is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations
communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation Hatchet Lake First Nation and
Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1400
students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest
technology progressively piloting programs and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom
and school curriculum.
This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to
First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications knowledge and skills to
meet the minimum suitability requirements as stated for the position.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Be aware of any allergies a student may have.
Establish clear instructional direction to support a positive learning climate in the context
of the Denesuline culture and language.
Provide positive ways for classroom environment that is conducive to learning and
appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
Plan and organize materials ahead of time.
Assess and document student learning daily.
Assess and maintain student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
Participate in professional development staff meetings parentteacher conferences and
other school related activities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Must be patient flexible observant and passionate.
Must have communications skills such as: verbal and nonverbal active listening and
empathy.
Must have strong understanding of the following programs and assessments: Effective
Practices Policies and Guidelines; Saskatchewan Curriculum.
To follow the provincial Ministry of Education curricula and focuses on holistic child
development including the socialemotional physical intellectual and spiritual domains.
Actively engage with families children and community members to understand their
backgrounds and experiences to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.
Ability to work effectively with administrators colleagues central office schoolbased
staff students parents and community.
Maintain confidentiality of students and other professional information
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent.
A recognized postsecondary Diploma as an English Teacher or equivalent postsecondary
education in a related area from a recognized institution would be an asset.
Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.
Experience in teaching First Nations students at a remote community would be an asset.
First Aid Certification would be an asset.
