Role description:
The Senior Drainage Design Engineer will lead the design and implementation of drainage and stormwater management systems for major infrastructure projects in Ontario. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and delivering highquality engineering solutions.
This position sits within our Mobility Global Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change urbanization and digitization trends are requiring todays mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the worlds growing population. We design connected sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role accountabilities:
This role will be responsible for leading the design and development of effective drainage and stormwater management systems for infrastructure projects. You will provide technical expertise in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling stormwater management and erosion control manage project timelines budgets and resources to ensure successful project delivery and ensure all designs comply with local provincial and federal regulations and standards. You will work closely with other engineers architects and stakeholders to integrate drainage systems into broader project designs conduct field inspections and assessments to ensure the quality and functionality of drainage systems and prepare detailed technical reports drawings and specifications for drainage projects. You will also mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred
- Minimum of 810 years of experience in drainage design and stormwater management with a focus on infrastructure projects
- (Professional Engineer) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required
- Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software (e.g. HECRAS SWMM) CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation Openroads) and GIS applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly
