The Manager Capacity Access and Flow provides leadership and support to the palliative care portfolio team. The Manager works with team members to advance the regional strategic priorities and annual business plan and operational deliverables. As part of this role the Manager is accountable for the planning & administration of the palliative portfolio management of resources and engagement of key internal and/or external partners to ensure program activities are executed based on regional workplans and standards and within specified timelines and budgets where appropriate. The Manager will additionally advance opportunities to align with and support other portfolios across Capacity Access and Flow.
Here is what you will be doing:
Supports the development of regional palliative care operational and strategic plan aligned with provincial regional and local needs and priorities
Implements the regional palliative care workplan using relevant frameworks methodologies and tools
Collaborates with local health system partners and OPCN colleagues on regional and provincial initiatives as appropriate
Supports the implementation planning and evaluation of key initiatives within the Capacity Access and Flow portfolio.
Maintains communication and collaboration among relevant health service providers to facilitate knowledge transfer and awareness of best practices.
Identifies improvement opportunities and escalates key issues/risks to the Director; proposes and executes solutions to address challenges or mitigate risks
Manages a team of resources including setting performance expectations; allocating work; overseeing and ensuring the quality of outputs; measuring/reporting on performance outcomes; and performance management
Understands and advises on local issues and priorities
Completes reports as required
Supports health system priorities as identified in the Annual Business Plan and connects work across portfolios in alignment with Capacity Access and Flow deliverables
Participates in provincial and regional committees as required. Collaborate with local partners to improve palliative care across all patient populations illness trajectories and health care settings.
Here is what you need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) or equivalent combination of education professional development/training and senior leadership experience in health care or related field
3 or more years of experience in palliative sector preferably with systems planning exposure
Knowledge of and had understanding or the palliative care system in Ontario Health (West Region)
A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in managing a team including setting performance objectives and managing performance is required
Knowledge and Skills
Experience in managing large/complex operations and overseeing daytoday operational activities
Experience in engaging and soliciting support from key partners in the delivery of operational/program activities in Palliative Care
Ability to develop and implement operational and strategic plans in collaboration with a variety of partners and contributors
An understanding of how the overall Ontario Palliative Care Network and direction impacts the various operational areas an asset
Strong business acumen problem solving and decisionmaking skills an asset
Team focused and relationship driven approach preferred
Ability to act as a people leader
