Standard Hours BiWeekly: 75

Salary: Level 2 Step 1 ($2109.75 biweekly)


Closing Date 4:00pm (YST): May 27 2025

This position will expose citizens to numerous opportunities within the natural resources field and provide them with a unique experience working within the Trondk Hwchin (TH) Traditional Territory (TT) for Trondk Hwchin people. The Natural Resources Steward Assistant will be assisting the Natural Resources Department with a wide variety of tasks and duties: programplanning field work administration duties detailed field notes and photos compiled field reporting assistance with TH culture camps community harvesting/ butchering etc. The focus of this position will be on field work; however office related tasks related to reporting and recording field operations and other office duties will be . The position may be expected to attend events which require overnights in a camplike setting and assisting with the Klondike River Chinook Salmon Sonar.


An Eligibility List may be established from this competition the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent fulltime permanent parttime temporary fulltime temporary parttime term or auxiliary oncall vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be a TH Citizen aged 18 or older.
  • Musthave an interest in the field of Natural Resource Management Environmental Science Biology Geography or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of computers (database managementan asset).
  • Cross cultural awareness sensitivity and understanding.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Must be punctual professional and reliable.
  • Responsible with ability to ensure youths safety and wellbeing at culture camps.

Assets:

  • Good notetaking skills are an asset.
  • Experienceoperating an ATV and motorboat is considered an asset.
  • Bear Aware training or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Willingness to take courses such as ATV Training Boat Safety and others that may arise for the position.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license and clear drivers abstract.
  • Remote First Aid or willingness to obtain certification.
  • TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
