- Degree in Social Work Business Administration Sociology Recreation or in a related field and a minimum of five (5) years professional social planning social development project management or experience in the area of specialisation OR Masters Degree in Social Work Business Administration Sociology or a related field and a minimum of three (3) years professional experience in area of specialization. Holders of degrees in Social Work must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers
- Experience working with/within the nonprofit sector developing social service programs and related outcomes and project management
Assets:
- Leadership facilitation and project management experience within a public sector environment
- Research and data analysis experience
- Experience working with or in the non profit sector
Skills required for success:
- Extensive knowledge related to the planning administration coordination and management of social services and governance of nonprofit organizations
- Strong understanding of the community and the delivery of preventive social services in Edmonton
- Strong project management skills and experience including leading projects
- Proven skills in designing implementing and managing social research and evaluation projects
- Strong knowledge of program evaluation
- Strong knowledge of equity diversity and inclusion
- Ability to work diplomatically and persuasively with community groups agencies and organizations
- Confidence and experience with public speaking and preparing presentations
- Ability to lead and facilitate discussions including mediating and managing diverse perspectives and approaches

Conditions of Employment:

Work Environment:
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52

In this role you will play a key part in anticipating and supporting preventive social services to improve outcomes for all Edmontonians working within the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Team You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders community based agencies and internal departments and branches to ensuring alignment with corporate goals and the FCSS Regulation and Accountability Framework . What will you do
- Use a project management framework to plan and oversee initiatives to ensure partners are engaged roles are clear and work is completed in a timely way to meet corporate and community needs
- Provide opportunities for funded agencies to partner collaborate and learn together including convening funded agencies for social sector meetings around shared issues and topics in community based on observed needs
- Use research analytics and geographic information to support funding decisions and to provide partners and community organizations with information for decision making
- Provide information on City of Edmonton strategies and priorities to funded agencies and community partners
- Work on collaborations partnerships and projects that enhance the outcomes of preventive social services social inclusion and quality of life for Edmontonians
- Conducts qualitative research for the development implementation and maintenance of action and strategic plans to aid in evaluation assessment and development of recommendations
- Approach all functional work with a continuous improvement mindset making recommendations and implementing as needed
- Review and analyze projects plans and policies providing advice and recommendations to Leadership
- Develop implement and measure department performance management frameworks
- Work with department stakeholders to identify and prioritize annual projects and initiatives
