RESOURCE PLANNING & BUDGETING

Resource Planning & Budgeting is a universitywide team responsible for budget management and reporting. This includes the operating budget that is approaching $290M and the capital budget of tens of millions of dollars (variable depending on projects).

Standard Work Hours: Mon Fri 7:45 am 4:00 pm 36.25 hours per week (Summer Hours)

Salary Range: $63237 $86308 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director Resource Planning & Budgeting the Budget Analyst supports strategic financial planning by providing analysis guidance and reporting for assigned portfolios within the University. This role strengthens departmental decisionmaking through budget development policy interpretation and datadriven insights that align with institutional goals.

  • Build relationships rapport and understanding of each assigned portfolio.
  • Offer guidance on how to achieve objectives within policy and guidelines.
  • Support the preparation of financial transactions and understand historic transactions.
  • Analysis to support funding proposals or to offer alternative suggestions.
  • Budget review and yearend checks specific to the portfolio. Prepare yearend analysis and reports.
  • Review annual budget submissions and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and review budget communications.
  • Review portfoliolevel reporting such as salary savings and budget carry forward reports.
  • Help prepare and review the University budget overview report.
  • Ad hoc analysis to support management board and executivelevel decisionmaking.
  • Design methodology collect data from multiple sources for consolidation and analysis.
  • Lead for specifically assigned roles and become a subject matter expert. These roles might include several the following examples: capital budgets and reporting; provision and contingency management; timeline management; revenue modeling; budget committee coordination; maintaining process and procedure documentation.
  • Create update and review policy and guidelines.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Diploma in a recognized accounting/business program
  • 35 years related work experience

Additional Strengths:

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and knowledge of MS Office products is essential.
  • Continuous learning and critical thinking skills to keep up with a complex and fastmoving environment.
  • Experience of a university environment.
  • Good relationship and communication skills are required.
