Job Description

This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the AntiDiscrimination ACT 1977

Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal communitycontrolled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual family and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.

Our main services are in Wellington Dubbo Moree Western Sydney Penrith Nepean and Blue Mountains and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.

About the Role:

This position is responsible for identifying program opportunities and overseeing the development implementation and evaluation of all programs to ensure objectives and contractual requirements are met. The role involves managing funding contracts and agreements to ensure the delivery of all agreed program outcomes. It also includes leading and supporting Team Leaders to foster a highperforming engaged workforce that is empowered to achieve program goals. Additionally the role contributes to the development and execution of the organisations strategic plan ensuring alignment between program delivery and broader organisational priorities.

The key objectives of the role include to:

  • Identify program opportunities and manage the development implementation and evaluation of all programs to ensure the achievement of objectives and requirements.
  • Manage the funding contracts and agreements to ensure that all agreed program requirements are delivered.
  • Lead and manage Team Leaders to ensure all staff are engaged and empowered to achieve program objectives.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the organisation strategic plan
  • Liaise with funders and ensure reporting requirements are met.
  • Ensure that all programs are managed within budgetary and funding requirements.

Skills Experience & Mandatory Requirements:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification or Relevant Experience
  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Extensive experience in managing health programs
  • Extensive experience in managing health programs in an Aboriginal community environment.
  • Sound experience in applying for and managing government funding
  • Deep understanding of and experience in Medicare funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and other statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgetary requirements.
  • High level of computer literacy; sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including the National Police Check and Working with Children clearance in accordance with WACHS policy and procedures.
  • National Police Check.
  • Working With Childrens Check.
  • COVID19 Certificate & Booster Information or a Medical exemption.
  • Current drivers license.
