A rare opportunity has become available for an experienced Music Therapist to join the Montefiore on a permanent part time basis. This position will complement our dedicated and extensive team of creative therapists and work closely with our diverse allied health staff.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Creative Therapy Manager the role will involve (but is not limited to):
- The continuation and enhancement of a holistic approach to the development and maintenance of evidencebased Music Therapy programs specifically designed for residents within an aged care facility
- Delivering individualised and group music therapy sessions
- Supporting and encouraging residents to develop their music confidence and maintaining their existing music skills
- Maintaining documentation and record keeping
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelors degree in Creative Therapies and postgraduate studies in Music Therapy
- Music composition and performance experience
- Demonstrated competence in playing at least 2 instruments and music therapy interventions
- Ability to liaise with various stakeholders at all levels within the organisation
- Effective oral and written communication skills
The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills an ability to work within a team and have a passion and genuine desire to work with an older population. Previous experience working within aged care and with people living with dementia will be highly regarded.
