The Bricklayer is responsible for constructing and repairing walls partitions arches and other structures using bricks blocks and other masonry materials. The role requires precision attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret building plans to ensure structures meet Australian building standards and regulations with the ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lay bricks concrete blocks and other types of masonry materials to construct and repair walls foundations partitions arches and other structures.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings plans and specifications.
- Set out the job as per drawings and Australian Standards
- Set out and Stand doors and window frames.
- Mix and apply mortar ensuring correct consistency.
- Measure and cut materials to the required size using hand and power tools.
- Align structures accurately using levels plumb bobs and string lines. Stand profile and set lines
- Operate brickcutting machines and other masonry equipment safely.
- Apply weatherproofing and protective materials where required.
- Construct scaffolding to legal height restrictions
- Ensure work complies with Australian building codes safety regulations and quality standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople site supervisors and construction managers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as bricklayer.
- Proven minimum 3 years of experience as a bricklayer in residential and commercial buildings.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
