Job Description

CK Group are recruiting for a Senior Coatings Technician, to join a paints and coatings manufacturing company, at their site based in Manchester, on a full time, permanent basis. The salary ranges up to 50,000 per annum, dependent on experience.


The Company:

Our client is an established independent organisation, who are committed to the development of their staff, as well as to the growth of the company. They work individually with customers to best meet their needs. The successful Senior Coatings Technician will ensure the smooth running of the coatings lab, by providing services to both internal and external customers.


Location:

This Senior Coatings Technician role will be based at the company's site in Manchester, easily commutable from surrounding areas.


Your main duties will be:
  • Formulation and testing of paints, coatings and finishes.
  • Liaising internally with production, quality and commercial departments.
  • Contributing to the development of the product range.
  • Maintenance of the laboratory and supplies, complying with HSE.
  • Providing technical advice and support to new and existing customers - travelling within the UK to customers.
  • Scaling up formulations for initial trials and commercial batches.
  • Keeping up to date with legislation and supporting production of regulatory documentation.

Your Background:

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
  • Experience in development and formulation of solvent and water-based paints and coatings - alkyd, epoxy and polyurethane.
  • Ability to keep to time and budget restrictions in self-managed projects.
  • Awareness of the Chemistry of degradation and corrosion, and experience in producing panels for accelerated tests.
  • Experience in operating paint application equipment.
  • Experience in delivering technical presentations.
  • Degree/diploma in a Chemistry-related subject.
