Degree in Histology preferred.

Exception: Meets requirements under the ASCP Grandfather clause certified prior to 2004.

The Histotechnologist maintains current professional knowledge and skills to perform testing as a Histologist in the Clinical Laboratory including fluid cytology preparation.

• Responsible for producing high quality slides in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy.
• Performs special staining frozen sections gross examination and assistance and autopsy assistance. Assists the pathologist with postmortem examination and collection of specimens.
• Analyzes test results for accuracy acceptability and critical limits and reports/documents results per organizational standards.
• Performs Quality Assurance work to ensure accuracy of equipment.
